The breeding history is somewhat fuzzy, but Shipova is known to be the product of an unusual cross: Sorbus aria X Pyrus Communis. This sweet, buttery pear is somewhat small and resembles an Asian pear in shape. You may have to wait a few extra years for this delicious fruit though, Shipova can be slow to bear.
