Black Raspberry - "Pequot"
This delicious black raspberry has proven itself exceptionally hardy. Bred by Jim Furth in northern Minnesota, its vigorous, cold-hardy genetics run deep– most black raspberries require a zone 5 climate at minimum, but Pequot will fruit bountifully well into a harsh zone 3! The berries, ripening over an (approximately) 2 week period in late July, are sweet, firm, and easy to pick. The fruit holds up well in containers, and the bulk of the berries form on the ends of the canes for fast, easy harvesting.
